  in the large jw reference bible (page 1578) is a drawing of a man dying on an upright pole.

  in penton's book, apocalypse delayed, there is a reference on page 342 to that illustration, mentioning it is only one of 16 drawings, 13 of which show a cross beam.

  i accompanied my mother to the meeting yesterday.

  I accompanied my mother to the meeting yesterday. In the meeting the new Watchtower video was reviewed. The video was based on Moses' relationship with God and people. It was mentioned that some people did not follow the instructions that were given to Moses by God. After several minutes of dicussing the video the elder got to the message of the video which is, if one rebels against the elders they rebel against God. This angered me greatly. I think it is necessary for an individual or a group to keep a church organized but the church should revolve around the God not the organizers. I have not read the Bible entirely but I am sure that the prophets did compare themselves to God in any way.

  If the founder's literature is regarded with the same value as the holy scriptures(Bible,Torah, Quran) then that would indicate that the denomination is a cult.

  New Castles after looking through several Bible dictionaries and Judaism history books I did not come across anything that supported the claim that YHWH comes from pagan origens. I forgot to mention that before the original pronounciation was lost only Jewish religious leaders would pronounce the name in the temple. Narkissos thank you for the information

The capital letters symbolize YHWH but does not translate the meaning of YHWH. Scholar refer the sacred name as the Jews do in the Bible. Scholars believe that best attempt to pronounce YHWH is Yahweh and Jehovah is pure invention. The word Tetratgramaton which is used to idenitify YHWH was created by Kabbalist. The divine name YHWH was adopted in ancient Sumaria. Historians believe this is do to Jew's involvement in Sumaria.
